Bio

Colby Thompson begins his first year as the head coach of the FGC esports program, after spending last season as the assistant coach for the Timberwolves. He played a pivotal role in transforming a team that had underachieved in the fall, into one that put together a regular season record of 18-6 in the spring, with several players advancing to the post-season.

Colby began his coaching career after wrapping up a successful playing career for the Timberwolves. He made history as the first esports athlete at Florida Gateway College, and showcased strong leadership skills as the captain of the Overwatch team for two years. Under his direction, the team achieved an undefeated regular season in 2023, and emerged as the national runner-ups in the playoffs.

He has several years of experience in the industry, specializing in first-person competitive shooters such as Overwatch, Valorant, and Call of Duty. He also has experience in various other titles including Super Smash Bros, Apex Legends, CS:GO, and Rocket League.

He is also a graduate of FGC, after completing an Associate of Arts (AA) degree.
