Bio

Coach Hufty has over 12 years of experience coaching flag football at the high school and collegiate levels. Originally from Chicago, IL, he graduated from Florida State University in 2012 and currently resides in Live Oak, FL.

Hufty was hired to lead the Timberwolves Program in January of 2022, and would go on to lead Florida Gateway to a National Championship in the program's inaugural season (2022-2023). En route to the National Championship, the Timberwolves finished with a 15-1 team record as well as a few individual accolades including Destiny Lockett being named Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the National Tournament, and Coach Hufty being named the NJCAA Coach of the Year. He also serves as the first president of the NJCAA Flag Football Coaches Association. 

Prior to coming to Florida Gateway, he was previously the head coach at Leon HS, Rickards HS, and Suwannee HS, along with stints as an assistant at Leon HS and Godby HS. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the Florida State University's Club Flag Football team in 2017-2018. Hufty's passion for the sport extends beyond coaching; he helped organize the statewide senior high school all-star game through the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) and previously served on the FHSAA Flag Football Advisory Board. With a background in scouting and player evaluation from his work with XOS Digital (now Catapult Sports), he has earned other esteemed accolades, including the 2018 FACA Meritorious Service Award, 2017 All Big Bend Flag Football Coach of the Year, and the aforementioned 2023 NJCAA Coach of the Year.
